Dudley Business Delivering at Christmas

Santa will be getting a helping hand this year thanks to a rapidly-growing Dudley business who are determined to deliver this Christmas.

Staff at DPD Local Dudley have been snowed under this week as they work to deliver thousands of parcels just in time to be unwrapped on Christmas morning.

The parcel delivery franchise, which is run by two local businessmen, Richard Walters and Duncan Bateman, is part of a group that delivers more than 200 million parcels a year.

The local franchise moved into their new 20,000 sq ft premises on Peartree Lane two months ago, leaving behind the depot in Lye they had occupied for the last 25 years.

The firm has created 15 new jobs in the last three years, and plans are in the works to create at least five more in 2018.

Cllr Dave Tyler, the mayor of Dudley, who visited the firm in the run-up to Christmas, said: “It’s more important at this time of year than any other that people receive their parcels on time.

“Richard, Duncan, and their team are doing a great job helping Santa out. They’ve had a great year and I am sure the business will continue to grow and expand in the future.”
