People across Dudley are being encouraged to make the most of local pharmacies this Christmas to help ease the pressure on GPs.
A number of pharmacies will be open on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day, all offering free and confidential advice to help treat common illnesses.
As well as offering advice on complaints like colds and flu, sore throats, earache, backache, stomach upsets, and cuts and grazes, pharmacists can also answer questions about medications.
Dr Steve Mann, the clinical executive at Dudley CCG, said: “With advice on common illnesses and the best medicines to treat them, popping along to your local pharmacist at the first sign of illness can help you feel better faster.
“Pharmacists have trained for five years and can offer expert advice on lots of minor ailments and conditions, and treat minor injuries and infections.
“More importantly… they offer many of the same services that local GPs do [and] you don’t need to make an appointment to see them.”
Full details of local pharmacy opening times over the Christmas and New Year period are available on the Dudley CCG website.
