Engineering Works Disrupt Festive Trains

West Midlands Railway is warning that planned engineering works across the train network are likely to disrupt Christmas travel plans.

Passengers are being urged to make sure they allow extra time for journeys and check departure times on National Rail’s website before setting out.

Engineering works traditionally hit the rail network during the Christmas and New Year period, and this year is set to be no different.

Between 24th December and 2nd January, services run by West Midlands Railway will run to amended timetables, while buses will replace some routes.

Buses will replace all services to stations between Wolverhampton and Birmingham New Street as trains will run non-stop between the two stations via an alternative route.

Meanwhile, trains from Birmingham New Street to Liverpool Lime Street will terminate at Liverpool Parkway due to an upgrade being carried out at Liverpool Lime Street.

No trains will run on Christmas Day or Boxing Day.
