Police Warn of Bogus Callers Amid Raids

West Midlands Police is urging the public to remain vigilant and report all suspicious behaviour after a number of properties in Dudley were raided by organised criminals.

The warning follows the launch of a specialist taskforce to help solve a string of 50 raids in the West Midlands that police believe are linked.

The police are advising the public to be on their guard if an unexpected visitor turns up at their door.

Bogus callers are known to work in pairs, with one caller distracting the person answering the door while the other steals property.

Detective superintendent Alison Telford, who is leading the police’s response to the raids, said: “These crimes are particularly abhorrent. Offenders are targeting vulnerable people in their homes where they should feel safest.

“We are putting a huge amount of resources behind catching those responsible, including extra support from our uniformed officers, as well as covert work.”

Anyone with information about the burglaries is being asked to call DC Sean Lowe, from Force CID, on 101 ext 851 3151.
